Traffic Calming in Rockwood Neighborhood

  • Recent Letter from Jonathon Mallahan Director of City of Spokane Neighborhood Services and Code Enforcement

Greetings Neighbors,

Attached to this message are the documents related to the 2012 Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program. Additionally, here is a link to a brief informational video about how the program works: Traffic Calming Video

It is important to note that there are two different forms to begin the process for receiving funding for a project in your neighborhood. The first, is the “Traffic Calming Report” form which is used to apply for funding for projects on residential streets. This type of project has no limitation on the solution you can propose (e.g. bump outs, serpentines, bike lanes, crosswalks etc…) The second form is to apply for funding for arterial street project and it is titled “2012 Arterial Traffic Management Application”. This form includes a limited list of project types that are eligible for funding on arterial streets in 2012.

Please note that the deadline for submitting applications has been moved to March 30th 2012.

Below is a list with descriptions of each document attached to this message:

  • Traffic Calming Project Report Form – This is the residential street project form you will need to fill out and submit by March 30, 2012 in order to be considered for funding in this cycle.
  • Traffic Calming Support Form – this form can be used to gather required signatures for your projects impact area.
  • Traffic Calming Policy – this document includes the entire City of Spokane Traffic Calming Policy which was adopted by the City Council and Community Assembly. This policy was developed by your fellow citizens through a multi-year collaboration with the City.
  • 2012 Arterial Management Application – If you plan on submitting a project for arterial streets, use this form instead of the traffic calming project form. You will notice that only a limited number of types of projects are available for funding in 2012.
  • Traffic Calming Program Steps – This document briefly outlines the steps required for traffic calming projects on residential streets. This does not apply to arterial street projects.
  • Traffic Calming Project Presentation – This is a copy of the PowerPoint presentation that was used during the orientation.
  • 2012 Traffic Calming Resources and Timeline – This document includes a timeline for 2012 projects and some links to helpful resources to aid in your traffic calming application efforts.
  • Arterial Street Map – This map shows which streets in Spokane are considered to be arterials.

As always, please contact the Office of Neighborhood Services with any questions.

Respectfully,
